EL: In their words
I remember the first time I got a haircut from someone who really understood me and made me and made me feel empowered, and safe to try new things with my hair. I was enamored by her and her tattooed skin, colored hair and nonconventional attitude towards hair that made me feel seen. Part of that is what drove me to become a hairstylist. Safer salon spaces for queer community are so important for us as hairstylist can be helpful tool in one’s gender, euphoria. I love being a queer, non-binary hairstylist. Making people feel seen as my hairstylist growing up did. It’s the best feeling in the world to hear that the haircut you gave someone made them feel good about themselves.
