My name is Hermes and I’m a trans man who came to my trans awareness in 2017 and then came out in 2020. I’ve currently been working as a travel hairstylist around the DMV for a private photoshoots, events, headshots, and private clients. Ive got a private studio in my apartment where I cut and color my closest friends, my community, and my long time customers. I’m looking for a space to put a shampoo bowl in but thats not a salon, the search continues!

The reason I made this website and Map:

Here in DC its very transient, and I often get asked where someone can go for a good haircut when they have to move away, or move back home. When I didn’t have an answer fully, I realized I needed to make a map for people, but in order for the map to keep its integrity I had to make a class to educate people on like what my ethical practices are and then I can educate on how to technically do the haircuts and color. I’ve started with the 101 Gender Inclusivity course and added people I know can affectively communicate with the queer community comfortably. Thats where people can look on our map and find a certified stylist! Theres also educational haircutting tutorials where if the stylist chooses to they can purchase my cutting classes to help inspire and teach how I cut the hair.
